• When using tomato paste, open both ends of the can and slide or scrape out the contents using a butter knife or small spatula.
  • When making cookies, bake only one pan and freeze the rest on a wax paper-lined cookie sheet.  Once the balls are frozen solid place them in a zip loc bag.  You don’t need to thaw these before baking at the stated temperature, but you will need to tweak how long you cook them.
  • Need softened/room temperature butter, but you only have frozen or cold?  Place the butter in the microwave on defrost 1 minute for cold butter–until soft (not melted) for frozen butter.
  • Overripe bananas?  Peel and place on wax paper in the freezer.  Use the frozen bananas for smoothies or  chocolate dipped bananas or thawed for banana bread.
